Antonio Conte has prioritized Serie A in his comeback on the bench following a sabbatical but seriously risks not seeing his wish granted. A few teams examined him, but none is too determined to hire him for now, SportMediaset informed.

His significant salary is one of the main sticking points. Moreover, executives see him as uber-demanding on the transfer market, incapable of grooming youngsters, and too influential in the club decisions.

Conte claims to have changed during his time off, but presidents haven’t bought it yet. Napoli showed the most interest and courted him hard a couple of times in the past. They are leaning in other directions currently. Stefano Pioli is the frontrunner for the job should he get out of his contract with Milan.

The former Italy boss has some fans within the Rossoneri. However, their higher-ups would rather appoint somebody less cumbersome and with way lower wages. Juventus never truly took him into consideration. He might wind up in the Premier League, perhaps at Chelsea, but those talks aren’t too advanced, or Saudi Arabia.

Our Take on Conte

The economic aspect is more of a hindrance than his bruising personality and technical requests. Those would be easily glossed over if he won a trophy. The Old Lady would be the best fit roster and character-wise, but they can’t afford two top-paid gaffers on their books. Massimiliano Allegri probably won’t agree to a severance package if he gets the ax.
